HOMICIDE
INVESTIGATION (Update 7):
University of Missouri
Police Department (MUPD) detectives have established the following
time line in the Jan. 7, Jeong H. Im homicide investigation: The
homicide is believed to have occurred between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. on
Jan. 7, with an individual or individuals returning to the scene
between noon and 12:20 p.m. to set the fire.
The department seeks
the assistance of the community in identifying an older truck or
sport utility vehicle that was multi-colored and near the third level
of the Maryland Avenue Garage around 11:57 a.m. on Jan. 7. The front
fender on the driver’s side is believed to be orange with the
driver’s side door being blue. The rest of the vehicle is
believed to be tan or cream in color. The vehicle was described as an
“older farm vehicle.” Two male occupants were in the
vehicle. This is not a suspect vehicle nor are these two males
considered suspects at this time.
Anyone who was on or
near the third level of Maryland Avenue Garage during the above time
periods is encouraged to call with any information. MUPD detectives
continue to look for the identification of a person of interest
described as follows:
The
person is believed to have been carrying some type of gas can. The
person of interest is a male, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches in
height, possibly wearing some type of painter's or drywall mask in
the area of Maryland Avenue garage on Jan. 7 during the time frame of
noon and 1 p.m.
The University of
Missouri-Columbia is offering a $10,000 reward for information
leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects who committed the
Jan. 7 homicide of Jeong H. Im in the Maryland Avenue parking garage.
