On Nov. 19, the University of Missouri-Columbia Police Department arrested Dave I. Sierpina for burglary in the second degree, which is a class C felony and for property damage, which is a class B misdemeanor. Sierpina was transported to Boone County Jail where he was released to the Boone County Sheriff’s Department in lieu of $6,000 bond. Sierpina is not a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

This investigation originated from a burglary to a room in Gillett Hall, where a confederate flag was destroyed and a television set was thrown from a window, between Nov. 2 and Nov. 4.

Facts from the investigation indicate that the incident was not motivated by race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or disability of the victim.
