From 8 p.m., Dec. 7 to 3 a.m., Dec. 8, the University of Missouri-Columbia Police Department will conduct a Youth Alcohol Saturation.

The Missouri Division of Highway Safety awarded a grant to MUPD to conduct activities aimed at enforcing underage drinking laws. The grant money is part of a federal fund that is distributed to states through the Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Law enforcement agencies throughout Missouri were invited to apply for the grant money.

MUPD is using saturation enforcement to enforce underage drinking laws in this community. Four officers will be working overtime to enforce these drinking laws. The officer’s salaries are paid for by the Highway Safety grant.

"Everyone in the community can contribute to this effort," Lt. Brian Weimer said. "Please do not provide alcohol to minors under any circumstances and report incidences of minors consuming alcohol to law enforcement."
