MUPD REPORTS KIDNAPPING ON CAMPUS,

VICTIM IS SAFE, UNHARMED

COLUMBIA, Mo. – At 12:38 p.m., Tue. Jan. 29, the University of Missouri-Columbia Police Department received a report of a kidnapping on the MU campus. The incident happened near the MU Livestock Center on Ashland Road on the MU campus, between 12:15 and 12:30 p.m.

An unknown masked male forced an MU student into her vehicle and demanded money from her. The male then drove the student’s vehicle with her in it, to a local ATM where he had her make two withdrawals. Then the suspect drove her to the area of Quail Drive and Sylvan Lane where he exited the vehicle and told her to drive off and not call the police.

The suspect, a black male with facial hair on the chin, wore a black facemask. He was clothed in a gray hooded sweatshirt that was covered by a dark jean jacket, and dark jeans. The suspect claimed to have a gun but no weapon was displayed.

Anyone with any information on this incident is encouraged to call Lieutenant Scott Richardson at 573-884-0154 or Crime Stoppers at 573-875-TIPS.
