At 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 26, the University of Missouri-Columbia Police Department arrested the following individual for: Stealing (12 counts), a Class C Felony, RSMo. 570.030 and Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Class C Felony, RSMo. 195.202.

The University of Missouri-Columbia Police Department was contacted by a Dr. Michael Davis concerning the theft of a controlled substance from a locked safe in his lab located in the University of Missouri Medical Science Building.  Dr. Davis reported that between June 29, 2006, and October 21, 2006, an unidentified individual removed Pentobarbital, a controlled substance, from the locked safe 12 different times.  Dr. Davis placed a surveillance camera in his lab and caught images of an individual opening the locked safe.  Individual caught on video was identified as David Michael Lorenz, a University of Missouri Hospital Security Officer. On October 26, 2006, Mr. Lorenz admitted to opening the locked safe and removing the Pentobarbital.
