Reaccreditation of University Police Department:

On November 21st at the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) conference in Salt Lake City Utah, the University of Missouri Police Department received reaccreditation.  During this conference the department was also recognized as a CALEA Flagship Agency.  Additional information on the Flagship Agency program can be obtained from CALEA’s web site at: http://www.calea.org/Online/Awards/flagship.htm

The department was found to be in compliance with all 356 standards that were applicable to the agency.  The department will be required to maintain compliance with all applicable standards and will have their next on-site visit in 2012.  The department’s accreditation manager Captain Brian Weimer said, “While the process is very challenging it is also very rewarding.  Accreditation assists our department to ensure we meet and maintain the most current law enforcement standards.”

The department’s continued commitment to the CALEA Accreditation process is just one of the ways the department strives to ensure it is providing the most professional law enforcement services available to its community.
